KILINOCHCHI, June 15 (Reuters) - Aircraft dropped bombs near the Tamil Tiger rebel headquarters of Kilinochchi on Thursday night, a Reuters witness said, in a new series of retaliatory strikes after a suspected rebel attack on a bus.
Tiger officials told Reuters government aircraft dropped eight bombs some 4 km (2.5 miles) south of Kilinochchi along the main road. There was no word on casualties.
"If they are attacking Kilinochchi, they are showing they are ready for war," head of the Tiger peace secretariat S. Puleedevan told Reuters.
